Statistics are current as May 27, 10:30 a.m CT
- In Texas, 943,239 people have been tested, resulting in 56,560 cases and 1,536 deaths, as reported by the Texas Department of State Health Services. There are an estimated 22,446 active cases in our state, and an estimated 36,375 coronavirus patients in Texas have successfully recovered.
- Tarrant County has at least 4,977 confirmed cases; Parker County has 68 confirmed cases; and Wise County has 45.
- In the United States, more than 1 million cases of coronavirus have now been diagnosed. There are at least 1,662,414 cases and 98,261 deaths, as reported by the CDC.
Need to Know:
- Reopening, while reducing risk. Last Friday, May 22nd, restaurants that have chosen to reopen were allowed to increase their capacity from 25% to 50%, and bars were allowed to reopen at 25% capacity. This coming Sunday, May 31th, brings good news for Texas sports fans, as Governor Abbott has announced that professional sports in Texas will be able to resume on May 31th without fans. Youth sports and overnight camps may also resume with restrictions on the same date. Visit the Open Texas webpage for more detailed information.
- If you chose to visit any of these newly re-opened businesses or participate in any of these services, do your part by following health protocols outlined by the Texas Department of State Health Services for each type of activity, so that we can continue to save lives while jumpstarting our economy.
- Get answers to your impact payment questions, online and over the phone. Almost 11 million Texans have received their coronavirus impact payment. If you qualify and have NOT received yours, the IRS announced last week that it is adding thousands of phone operators to answer your questions and help you get your payment. If your question cannot be answered after checking the IRS’s online Impact Payment Information Center, call the IRS’ new hotline for assistance at 800-919-9835.
- Get tested for free in Fort Worth. A new, FREE testing site for the coronavirus has arrived in Fort Worth, at the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter at North Beach Street. Anyone experiencing at least one symptom is eligible, and testing is available 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Book a test by visiting covidtesting.tarrantcounty.com or by calling 800-635-8611.
